Hoku Senior Friday Science and Math
June 3, 2016
Today was a fun day for our Hoku Friday Science class! We have started the presentation part of the curriculum meaning that students will be making presentations talking about different science tools and how to use them. Using them was easy and fun for the students, but making and writing an English presentation about how to use a hand lens and how to use a thermometer was challenging.
During our activity, the students were very good at using the tools and recording notes in their notebooks. We used a hand lens to look at various objects, such as, little stones, shells and even salt! For the use of the thermometer, we measured the temperatures for iced water, room temperature water and warm water. The students were surprised when the mercury in the thermometer rose very quickly after putting the thermometer from the iced water into the room temperature water.
